Dental Prosthesis

Dental Crowns

These are the so-called “caps”. They consist of a total dental prosthesis of the tooth restoring the shape, the colour and the original size of same. When a tooth or molar cannot be restored through sealing, the dental crown helps to protect and reinforce the dental structure.

We work with different types of dental prostheses: totally ceramic, combined with metal, designed by computer etc. Between our advice, your needs and whatever you decide, we will find the ideal dental prosthesis for your tooth.

Like everything, if they are looked after well and are checked with the regularity required, the dental prosthesis can remain intact in the mouth for many years.

With regard to the sequence of the treatment, in general terms, we will tell you that two visits will be required for treatment with a ceramic dental crown. During the first one, we will prepare the tooth to subsequently fit the ceramicdental prosthesis, we will take impressions with the required technique and implant a provisional dental crown in the majority of cases. This will remain in your mouth until one of the dental prosthesis laboratories that we work with have completed work on your definitive dental crown (between 8 and 14 days).

During the second appointment, we will remove the provisional dental prosthesis, we will prepare the receptor tooth and if everything is in order, it will be cemented in.

Dental Bridges

A bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis (non-removable) used to replace a missing tooth.

There are (as always) different ways to produce a design for a fixed dental prosthesis and different materials too. As always in our clinic, we will talk to you about which is the best dental prosthesis option for your particular case.

To receive a fixed dental prosthesis three sessions are needed. Sometimes one or two more. During the first appointment, we prepare the teeth receiving yourdental prosthesis, we will take measurements and insert a provisional dental prosthesis, which you will wear until you receive the definitive one.

During the second visit, the dental prosthesis laboratory will have given us the structure of the bridge, without the ceramic yet, with which we can verify the fit directly in the mouth. If everything is perfect, we then send this verified structure once again to the dental prosthesis laboratory so that they may load the ceramic in the colour of your teeth.

On the third visit, we will adjust and cement the definitive fixed dental prosthesis. In some cases, a retouching of the ceramic colour may be needed. If this is case, it goes back to the dental prosthesis laboratory where they will give it the colour retouching required.

In our clinic we will show you how to use the specific tools for the correct hygiene of your dental prosthesis, in such a way that it guarantees that it will remain in perfect condition for many years.

You must remember that the treatment does not end with the insertion of the definitive dental prosthesis, but that you must carry out meticulous hygiene at home, which we will help you to follow, and regular check-ups at the clinic.

Dental Veneers

Are pieces of dental prosthesis, made of very fine and very resistant ceramic which are normally used to achieve the shape and colour of an ideal tooth in the frontal area.

This kind of fixed dental prosthesis treatment is based upon the preparation of the external face of the tooth, minimally lowering the enamel, taking impressions which we will send to a dental prosthesis laboratory.

The process is similar to restoration using dental crowns, but if possible, even more delicate.
